The driver got out of the overturned car and escaped from the crime scene.
HOUSTON – A video posted to the Houston Reddit group shows a crash that you might not believe unless you see it for yourself.
It happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Friday on the Southwest Freeway.
One of the videos shows a car driving at high speed down the right lane of Highway 59 South towards the Greenbriar / Shepherd exit.
University of Houston architecture student Robert Perla and some of his friends were on the slip road below the exit. They had just left campus for lunch.
In a video captured from the back of Perla’s car, an overturned Dodge Charger was seen sliding down the slip road into the back of his car.

“I was pretty worried,” said Perla. “I thought to myself, ‘Is the person okay? Do you live?'”
Seconds later, the drivers got out of their cars and rushed over to help the driver in the overturned vehicle.
In the video, he seemed fine. He got out of the wrecked car, took something out of the car, and then ran away.
“He seemed perfectly fine,” said Perla. “He just got out, grabbed his shoes and ran away.”
Mohammad Hindi is the tow truck operations manager at the Elite Coalition Wrecker Service. His tow truck drivers were the ones who removed the wrecked vehicles from the crash site.
He said motorists are often hit when they least expect it.
“Regardless of the time of day, whether you are at a traffic light, stopped or driving, we have seen this on several occasions, even when the drivers are at a red light,” said Hindi.
Houston police said no one was injured in the accident. They are still investigating who the driver who ran away was.
