Man with ID arrested for crashing his car into the Washington Monument barrier

A man was arrested after allegedly crashing his car right outside the Washington Monument and missing several people walking around the landmark Saturday night, police said. Jack Joseph Dessin, 38, of New Jersey, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon (car) and destruction of government property, United States Park Police said in a statement. No pedestrians were injured in the incident, which occurred around 7:23 p.m., United States Park Police said in a statement.
