The fast-casual chain Hawaiian Bros., known for its Huli-Huli chicken and kalua pork lunches, is making its way to Houston.
An update to the restaurant’s website indicates that it plans to open its first Houston outpost at 6522 Westheimer Road and take over a space previously occupied by a taco cabana. It’s part of an aggressive growth plan in Texas for the Kansas City-born chain, which opened its first Kansas City location in 2018 and has since expanded to Texas, Missouri, and Illinois.
The chain’s first Texas locations opened in Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and 21 are in the works for the state. So don’t be surprised if more locations aren’t on the way to Houston – Hawaiian Bros. will be opening five restaurants in DFW in two months’ time this fall.
As for food, diners can expect a simple menu that focuses on the classic components of a Hawaiian plate lunch. Huli-Huli Chicken, Kalua Pork, and Spicy Kilauea Chicken are among the protein options paired with large scoops of creamy macaroni salad and steamed white rice. Snacks like Spam Musubi and Dole Pineapple Soft-Serve are also on the menu.
It is not yet known when Hawaiian Bros. will make its Houston debut. Stay tuned for more information on his arrival.
