One year anniversary at Becca Cakes

To celebrate the first anniversary of its bakery and as a thank you to its customers, Becca Cakes is offering birthday specials, including free cupcakes and macarons “Buy One Get One” throughout the day, free cocktails and mocktails from Beyond Bartending from open until 2am; and free $ 10 gift cards to use on their next purchase for the first ten people in the store.

Backyard Brew Fest in the East End Backyard

Saturday, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

1105 Sampson

East End Backyard is hosting its first annual Backyard Brew Fest with 17 local breweries, food trucks, DJs and live music from the Zac Edwards Band and Los Skarnales, among others. SpindleTap, 11 Below, Austin Eastciders, City Orchard, Bakfish, and True Anomaly are just a few of the breweries featured, while grocery vendors include The Urban Flower Company, Foreign Policy, Mingos Food Truck, Caluma Tacos, and AM BBQ. The tickets (30 USD) include a punch card that can be redeemed for six beers, plus a souvenir swag, VIP tickets (65 USD) include early entry from noon to 1 p.m.

The popular Viet-Tex BBQ pop-up Khoi Barbecue will serve a whole pig on-site with Vietnamese, Cantonese and Filipino dishes. and guests can also get pop-ups from the local baker Christina Au, Calenda’s Pizza, Kin from Chef Evelyn, Tatemo? and Underground Creamery.

Whiskey tasting “Honor the Father” in Reserve 101

On this Father’s Day, one of Houston’s best whiskey bars is hosting the guided whiskey tasting “Honor the Father” with guest of honor Adam Harris – an award-winning senior ambassador of James B. Beam Distilling Co. The tasting includes four chapters of the high-profile the coveted Little Book, a collection of limited annual blends from Freddie Noe, the eight generations of the Beam Distillery. Guests are greeted with a complimentary glass of Beam Highball and light snacks are served. Tickets are $ 75.
