Jose Bonilla-Ortiz arrested and charged with the homicide of Faruk Bhuiya in northwest Houston, Texas

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A teenage boy was arrested for the murder of a popular shop clerk.

Jose Bonilla-Ortiz, 18, was arrested Saturday and charged with gunning down Faruk Bhuiya during a November 10th robbery at Metro Food Mart in the Spring Branch area.

Surveillance video shows two men in hooded sweatshirts shooting Bhuiya.

Bonilla-Ortiz wears a dark hoodie in the surveillance video. The second man in the red hoodie has yet to be identified.

Bhuiya and his wife shared a house just behind the supermarket on Witte Road. The two had been married for less than two years.

Bonilla-Ortiz, who has no criminal record in Harris County, will be brought before a judge again on Monday afternoon after appearing in court for the first time on Sunday.

According to information released in court, Bonilla-Ortiz and Bhuiya fought over a security door that the victim tried to close after Bonilla-Ortiz ran to the checkout area.

Bonilla-Ortiz stuck his gun between the door and the doorpost, fired once, and hit Bhuiya in the face, court records show. Bhuiya died on the scene.

Bonilla-Ortiz is from Honduras. It is held on a $ 250,000 bond.
