Puppies are popular, but have you ever thought about all of the benefits of adopting an older dog?
Older means calmer and more relaxed, and they have usually left all puppy habits – such as chewing and messing around the house – behind them for a long time.
Mr. Shelby is such a gentleman. The Siberian Husky-Shepherd mix is 11 years young, with a sunny character and a love of cuddling.
The 32-pound puppy was transferred to the Houston SPCA by Galveston Island Humane, and while not much is known about his past, it just means he’s ready for a fresh start with a new family.
Mr Shelby is part of the Golden Paws program, which means his adoption package is only $ 25. As always, this includes neutering, microchips, the latest vaccinations, free food from Hill’s Pet Nutrition and a free follow-up visit to any VCA animal hospital.
And in case you haven’t heard it, the Houston SPCA is now open to the public without an appointment. Visit Mr. Shelby and all of his other adoptive buddies this weekend, Friday-Sunday 11am-6pm, or Monday-Thursday 12pm-7pm during the week.
The Houston SPCA Adoption Center is now open without an appointment. You can search online or come by in person to meet Mr. Shelby and any other adoptable pets.
