You’re invited to Houston’s largest Olympic watch occasion at Discovery Inexperienced

KPRC 2 is proud to partner with Discovery Green in downtown Houston’s largest Olympic watch party! For five days, the entire live action of the Tokyo Games will be projected onto the big screen of the Anheuser-Busch stage in Discovery Green and moderated by KPRC 2 on-air talents.

From Monday, July 26th to Friday, July 30th, 2021, the KPRC 2 team will transform the Fondren Performance Space of Discovery Green into a celebration of the Games with live entertainment, Olympic trivia with Olympic giveaways and of course lots of Olympic action the Texas-sized big screen.

Frank Billingsley, chief meteorologist for KPRC 2, will open Houston’s largest Olympic watch party on July 26th and 27th, followed by Derrick Shore, Courtney Zavala, Lauren Kelly and Joe Sam of Houston Life on July 28th and 29th. KPRC 2 News Today’s Owen Conflenti & Lisa Hernandez, along with meteorologist Justin Stapleton, end the week’s festivities on July 30th.


The KPRC 2 teams will be hosting live recordings of Discovery Green during the station’s newscast at 4, 5, and 6 p.m. NBC’s primetime coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics begins at 7:00 p.m. Pre-show activities and performances start at 6:30 PM

“The stands in Tokyo will be empty, so we’re inviting everyone to come to Houston’s biggest Olympic watch party and cheer on Team USA with KPRC 2 at Discovery Green,” said KPRC 2 Vice President / General Manager Jerry Martin. “Let’s cheer so loud that you can hear us as far as Tokyo!”
